Faster broadband is now available to some properties in the Whitchurch Canonicorum area through Fibre To The Premises or FTTP.

The properties are in the postcode DT6 6NL (although not all properties in those postcodes necessarily have access). Anyone who would like a better internet service should call their preferred internet provider from the list on the Openreach website (https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/fttp-providers) and choose a package that suits them.  Although the high-end speeds offered by full fibre are more expensive, you only pay for the speed you order, regardless of technology.  Once they have chosen a package, the provider will arrange for their faster service to be installed.

Anyone who would like regular news from Digital Dorset can sign up to their e-newsletter at dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/e-news or follow us on Twitter (@digitaldorset) or Facebook (@digitaldorset20). For more information, please visit Fibre to the premises (FTTP) - Dorset Council

  • DOGS - We are blessed to live in a beautiful and friendly community. The world feels like an increasingly fragile place with political extremism, climate change, injustice and mounting rage and anger about so many things. Please, please, please can we do our bit to keep life in the Char Valley civilised. If you do clean up after your dog (thank you for doing that), please take the bag home or dispose of it in a suitable bin. Please do not hang it in a tree or bush or hedge outside somebody's house. What would your mother say if she saw you?

Road damage and other highway issues can be reported online. These enquiries are passed on to our community highway officers who will assess the damage and arrange for any defects to be repaired, and recommend the area for any further action if necessary.
